Privacy Policy

Biblios is free to read without an account. We run no advertising or cross-site tracking. Optional, consent-based product analytics help us improve the app.

Who we are

Biblios (“Biblios”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Biblios Technologies LLC, a Georgia limited liability company. This policy covers our website and web application at www.bibliosbible.com.

Questions about this policy, or any request about your data, go to hello@bibliostechnologies.com.

What we do not do

We want this stated plainly, because it is unusual and it is the most important thing on this page:

  • We do not run advertising, marketing pixels, or cross-site tracking.
  • We do not use advertising cookies or sell analytics data.
  • We do not sell or share your personal information, and we never have.
  • We do not build advertising profiles of you, and we do not track you across other websites or apps.
  • We do not embed third-party content (no YouTube, Vimeo, social widgets, or embedded maps) that observe your visit without your choice.

Reading the Bible without an account

You can read Scripture, search, run word studies, and use the study tools without signing in and without giving us anything. Bible text is served from files on our own servers, so reading involves no database lookup tied to you. Optional analytics remain off unless you accept them.

When you use the app signed out, your work stays in your own browser’s local storage on your device. We cannot read it. Clearing your browser data deletes it permanently, and we have no copy to restore. See our Cookie Policy for the full list of what is stored on your device.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers (“processors”) to run Biblios. They may only process data on our instructions.

We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. We do not sell personal information to anyone, for any purpose.

AI-assisted features

Some Biblios features generate text using OpenAI’s API. We want to be specific about what leaves the app, because it is your study work:

  • Guided study questions. The passage you are reading and your own typed responses within that guided session are sent to OpenAI so the next question can respond to what you wrote.
  • Rhythm plans. The intention you write and the focus words you enter are sent to OpenAI to build your plan.
  • Study plans and word definitions. Study-plan searches send your search term and the Scripture references involved. If you choose Generate with AI in Word Study, the original-language definition, selected Scripture text, and the passage notes you entered for that Word Study are sent to OpenAI to draft your personal definition.

Your general saved notes are not sent to OpenAI. Note enrichment — detecting Scripture references and original-language words in your notes — runs entirely on our own servers against our own Bible and lexicon data. Only the passage notes you explicitly submit through Generate with AI in Word Study are used for that definition request.

We do not send your name, email, or account identifier to OpenAI. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train their models. If you would rather no study text reach a third party, avoid the guided-study, rhythm-week, study-plan, and generated-definition features; every other part of Biblios, including reading, searching, highlighting, and note-taking, works without them.

Donations

Donations are handled by Stripe on Stripe’s own hosted checkout page. Your card number, security code, and billing address are entered on Stripe’s systems and are never transmitted to or stored by Biblios. We receive only the fact and amount of a completed donation. Stripe processes your data under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep data

  • Product analytics: retained according to our PostHog project settings; privacy-masked session recordings are retained for 30 days.
  • Account data and saved study work: kept until you delete it or ask us to delete your account.
  • Feedback form messages: kept in our inbox while relevant to the feedback, then deleted.
  • Rate-limiting records: automatically expire within minutes.
  • Server logs: retained by our hosting provider on a short rolling window.
  • Donation records: retained by Stripe and by us as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Security

Account data is protected by row-level security, meaning the database itself enforces that you can only read and write your own records. Traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store payment details and we hold very little personal data in the first place, which is itself a deliberate security decision.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing under the CCPA/CPRA — we do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any right.

To exercise any of these, email hello@bibliostechnologies.com. We will respond within 30 days. Until self-service account deletion is available, email us to delete or export your account data. You may withdraw analytics consent at any time on the Cookie Policy page. You may withdraw consent for the feedback form simply by not submitting it.

If you are in the UK or EEA and believe we have handled your data improperly, you may complain to your local supervisory authority.

International transfers

We are based in the United States and our providers process data in the United States. If you use Biblios from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, our providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers.

Children

Biblios is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we use your personal data, we will give notice in the app before it takes effect.
